How rental screening actually works
Landlords generally check credit, identity, income, prior evictions, and criminal records — through a screening partner, not directly.
Your credit isn't dinged the same way as a loan application; screening pulls are typically soft or grouped, and your report expires quickly, so you can reuse it.
You always have the right to know the reason for a denial (this is called an adverse action notice) and to dispute inaccurate data.
